The William & Mary summer program in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, runs nearly six weeks and includes an orientation, classes and excursions. Students will take courses at Charles University taught by local faculty, as well as Professor Raphael?s RELG 309, The Holocaust in Czechoslavakia. (This course also fulfills the GER 7 requirement). All students are required to take Conversational Czech, a 1-credit course, though there is no language prerequisite for this program. Students earn a total of 7 credits while in Prague, all of which are reflected as grades on students? W&M transcripts and are included in GPA calculations. Other courses likely to be offered this summer include: GOVT 391/GBST 390, Contemporary Central European Politics; ARTH 252, Czech and European Art and Architecture, LCST 351 a literature course entitled Reading Prague.

The program may include guided excursions to sites of cultural and historical interest, such as Terez?n (Theresienstadt) concentration camp and Lidice and the destroyed Jewish community of Plze?, ?esk? Krumlov. In addition, other excursions may include overnight trips to Vienna, Austria and Bratislava, Slovakia.

Students will live in dormitories while in Prague.
