Our contest is unique in covering a wide range of topics including experiential, student travel, volunteering, internships, short-term work, alternative and traditional study abroad via U.S.-based programs as well as direct enrollment in foreign institutions. The Student Travel Writing Contest is in keeping with our mission, as Dr. Clay Hubbs conceived the magazine he founded in 1977 as being based upon educational travel in the broadest sense.
For this year's contest, the winning student submission will be awarded $500, the second place winner will be awarded $150, the third place winner will be awarded $100, and runner-up winners $50. In addition, all winners will be featured in the www.TransitionsAbroad.com Webzine (TAZine) dedicated to study abroad and educational travel.
The contest deadline is April 15, 2013 with no entry fee. Winners will be notified on, or about, May 1, 2013 for publication on, or about, May 15, 2013.
For more information on the specific guidelines designed to help the authors structure their stories for other students, please see our website and browse the past winning entries for an ideas about what we are seeking.
