[PAST EVENT] Global Hunger and Food Waste: A Campus-Wide Discussion
February 2, 2016
7pm - 8pm
The W&M Public Health Club is excited to announce that it will be hosting an interdisciplinary, campus-wide discussion on global hunger and food waste! Over the course of each evening in the two-part discussion series, we will hear from several professors/professionals about their perspective on the topic. We will also hear from several student organizations (including Campus Kitchens, Students for Stop Hunger Now, and UAID) about their involvement at a local and global level. See below for a list of all six faculty speakers:
Feb. 2nd at 7:00 pm at Small Hall, Room 111
? 1) Dr. Kenneth Kambis (Kinesiology) on the science of nutrition as it pertains to world hunger
? 2) Dr. Amy Quark (Sociology) on how globalization and global inequalities play a role in world hunger
? 3) Dr. Mark Fowler (Environmental Studies) on ethical implications of world hunger solution sustainability
Feb. 4th at 7:00 pm at Small Hall, Room 111
? 1) Dr. Camilla Buchanan (Kinesiology) on the effects of world hunger on children's and women's health
? 2) Dr. Kurt Williamson (Biology) on how ecosystems, organisms, and/or sustainable land use are tied in with global hunger/waste crises
? 3) Ms. Tracy Herner (Market Manager of the Williamsburg Farmers Market) on food access and hunger in the immediate Williamsburg community
There will also be refreshments. Come early to snag your seat and we look forward to seeing you there!
