Please join us at a plaque dedication ceremony to commemorate 50 Years of African-Americans in Residence  and 100 Years of Coeducation at William & Mary by honoring the first African-American women graduates and the 24 women who enrolled as students.

William & Mary will honor the Legacy Three, who enrolled as the first African-American students in residence and whose fortitude resulted in their being the first African-American women graduates of William & Mary. During this ceremony, William & Mary will also honor the 24 women who, in September 1918, enrolled as students, making William & Mary the first coeducational public university in Virginia. All of these women laid the foundation of the inclusion of women in the fabric of William & Mary.
