Lionfish are native to the Indo Pacific and are a popular marine aquarium fish. They escaped into Atlantic and Caribbean waters and were first observed in the northern Gulf of Mexico in 2010. Join Dr. William Patterson of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab as he discusses how these beautiful yet poisonous fish have quickly adapted to their new home, the negative impacts that are concerning scientists, and the limitations of controlling these invaders by methods such as spearfishing.
