Did you know that 1 out of every 6 jobs in the United States is either directly or indirectly related to the ocean? The ocean is a very important part of American lives: over half of our country?s population lives within 50 miles of the coast. At this lab, we will be examining different types of marine-related careers: from fishing and crabbing, to shipbuilding, to tourism and recreation! VIMS masters? student Taylor Goelz will describe how she works with a variety of different stakeholder groups in the Bay, representing different interests, to increase awareness and sustainability of oyster harvesting in the Bay.
