The William & Mary Alumni Association, in partnership with Arts & Sciences, invites you to join William & Mary History Professor Jay Watkins for a conversation about discovery and belonging within queer communities. Through a presentation, Q&A opportunities and breakout rooms, participants will learn about defending, adopting and socializing identities, specifically queerness.
Participants will consider questions like, “What does the process of acculturation look like in queer communities?” “What are the implications of trying to build community within or at the intersections of one’s multiple identities?” and “What kind of power dynamics are at play when subcultures interact with dominant cultures?”
