Location

Students interested in pursuing careers in sustainability are welcome to join this event and learn more about getting hired. All three of our panelists are experienced in hiring in a range of sustainability-related fields. Our panelists will share what they look for in potential hires and what makes a good candidate. Attendees will learn more about what jobs are available in the sustainability sector and how they can make themselves appealing to employers. After panelists have shared and answered questions, students will participate in the workshop portion. In small groups, they will work through a handout that allows them to reflect on the session and brainstorm ideas on how to prepare for the hiring world.

Panel features: Calandra Waters Lake, the Executive Director of Wild Virginia and the previous director of W&M's Sustainability, Mary Rafferty, the Executive Director of the Virginia Conservation Network (VCN), and Sam Laveson, Learning and Development Specialist at RoadRunner Recycling.
