This multimedia presentation brings into conversation Neff's collaborative ethnographic fieldwork with women gospel, blues, and hip-hop artists in the Mississippi Delta and her recent work with women Sufi praise singers and pop stars in Dakar, Senegal. Its title draws from the work of Senegalese praise singer Yand' Codou Sene, whose powerful voice inspires new insight into the critical work of women's voices in building and sustaining community throughout the Black Atlantic.

Ali Colleen Neff is a writer, filmmaker and interdisciplinary ethnographer of global musical practice. She is the author of Let the World Listen Right: The Mississippi Delta Hip-Hop Story (University Press of Mississippi, 2009) and has published on the pedagogy of popular music, collaborative ethnography, Southern U.S. vernacular arts, and musical postcoloniality, and exhibited her documentary photography and films in galleries and museums throughout the U.S.
