[PAST EVENT] Disordered Eating: One Size Does Not Fit All
Do you enjoy eating? We in Active Minds sure do too! But we should be aware of when our relationship with them becomes unhealthy.
Active Minds is happy to partner with the Counseling Center and bring in Angel Van Wagenen, a Psychology Doctoral Intern who works at the Center. She'll be presenting a program entitled ?Disordered Eating: One Size Does Not Fit All? designed to build awareness about the variety of ways that disordered eating can present itself and how anyone can develop an unhealthy relationship food. It also address how food can enrich our lives, but also can be used as a potentially harmful coping strategy. The presentation integrates psychoeducation and an experiential exercise of mindful eating.
Please RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/yoRL6TPQhZK1H5Ro1 by Sunday so we can get an approximate headcount.
These are the identified goals of the presentation:
- Build awareness about disordered eating
- Consider what an eating disorder is and what it is not. Expand on what we think of when we refer to ?disordered eating?
- Think about how eating can contribute to good mental health instead of becoming a symptom or maladaptive coping mechanism.
While we can't change the quality of food on campus, we can certainly improve your relationship with it!
