A decorated Wren Portico, festive cressets (wood-burning torches), and logs burning in the fireplace of Wren's Great Hall. These are hallmarks of the annual Yule Log ceremony. This year, students, alumni, families, and friends of William & Mary are invited to view the virtual ceremony from the comfort of their homes. Viewers will be treated to festive music and singing, student reflections on themes of hope and joy, the reading of special poems and stories, and virtual tossing of ceremonial sprigs of holly into the Yule log fire for good luck.

We've compiled everything you need at www.wm.edu/yulelog to create your own virtual watch party and participate from wherever you are:

  • Share messages of gratitude using #wmYuleLog (decorate a dove, design your own dove)
  • Prepare Virgie Williams’s recipes (cocoa, Dutch apple cake, chocolate cookie, and/or cinnamon roll recipes)
  • Enjoy the sights and sounds of a crackling fire in the Great Hall fireplace
  • Have fun with festive stickers and GIFs
  • Consider giving to Dare to DREAM, this year’s Yule Log philanthropic organization
