[PAST EVENT] Lecture "Building Blocks of the 21st Century Transatlantic Relationship"

Join the Reves Center and the Russian Studies program for this lecture: "Building Blocks of the 21st Century Transatlantic Relationship: Human Rights Enforcement and Economic Empowerment" by Matthew Murray.
The key to a strong and prosperous partnership between the U.S. and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe is a strong, integrated transatlantic economy. To achieve this, European states must implement free-market reforms based upon the cultural drivers of their respective economies; this requires states to invest in human innovation, creativity and skilled workers, empower entrepreneurship, as well as globalize business. Additionally, European states must champion human rights, especially through anti-corruption measures, to foster sustainable economic development by equipping entrepreneurs and businesses with the security of their material and immaterial property. Commercial diplomacy dedicated to economic empowerment of individuals will give rise to sustained transparency and growth in the transatlantic relationship.
