The Deepwater Horizon Disaster and the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative
Michael Carron (VIMS PhD ‘80), Director of the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI), reviews the results of 10+ years of research funded by the GOMRI in response to the major deep-water oil blowout of 2010. Dr. Carron will present an innovative model for industry-academia research response to significant man-made environmental threats, and discuss challenges and major findings as well as lessons learned in preparation for possible offshore drilling on the East Coast.
We are excited to offer this lecture in-person in McHugh Auditorium on VIMS' Gloucester Point Campus! Face masks are required while indoors at this event. This lecture will also be available as a live-streamed webinar. Registration is required for both in-person and webinar, and you can select which way you will attend when you register. Webinar links will be sent in the registration confirmation email.
After Hours lectures are designed for an adult audience.
