[PAST EVENT] Lidar Remote Sensing for Earth Science Applications
Location
ZoomAccess & Features
- Open to the public
Dr. Barton-Grimley is a remote sensing Instrument Scientist in the Science Directorate at the NASA Langley Research Center. This seminar will give a brief overview lidar and its working principals, geographic registration and data reduction, examples of the resulting data products that can be expected, and what science can be extracted from these data products. Examples will focus on current and past lidar efforts at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA and will touch on the broader NASA efforts for spaceborne, airborne, and ground based lidar sensing. The seminar will close with a discussion of how students at William & Mary can become involved in lidar based research at NASA, what resources are available, and the expectations of a remote sensing scientist career path.
