Professor Kirpal Singh, Singapore Management University, presents: "Embracing Diversity - The Singapore Experiment/Experience"
It is becoming very clear that without embracing Diversity it is going to be extremely difficult for any modern state/city/nation to become truly successful in any sense of this word-from the personal to the national level. Our new globalized economy demands that we all embrace diversity.
Among the young modern nations, the small island-state of Singapore was among the first to embrace Diversity in a major way--and the fact that today Singapore is recognized by the international community to be one of the most successful economies in the world speaks for its well-chosen path.
This Africana-AMES Mellon Distinguished International lecture will explore the challenges that face the embracing of Diversity and using Singapore as the prime example will illustrate views/ideas that do need understanding given the sheer complexity of this theme.
Co-presented by Africana Studies, Global Studies, Asian & Middle East Studies, Center for Student Diversity, the Dean's Lecture Fund, and the Reves Center for International Studies
