[PAST EVENT] University Student Arts and Cultural Exchange Performance

The University Student Arts and Cultural Exchange Performance will include vocal, instrumental and dance performances from a number of different minority cultural traditions in China. Mini-musicals of In a Faraway Place, Bamboos in the Moonlight, and Descendants of the Dragon will represent Han, Uygur and Yi traditions, and an excerpt of The Butterfly Lovers, of the Han tradition, will feature a violin solo and pas de deux. A tap dance will highlight the American dance tradition.
Established in 2003, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) Student Art Troupe is composed of eight groups: philharmonic orchestra, chorus, dancing league, drama club, traditional instruments orchestra, electronic band, fine art club and visual design studio. Over 260 UESTC students are involved in the Art Troupe, and the group has received numerous national and provincial prizes in China. Its performances have been broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV) and other media.
Tickets are required for this performance, though they are free of charge. Tickets may be collected from the Kimball Theatre or the William & Mary Confucius Institute (Rowe House, Jamestown Road).
