[PAST EVENT] William & Mary's Constitution Day Lecture: Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton

Jeffrey S. Sutton sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He was a partner with the law firm of Jones Day Reavis & Pogue in Columbus, Ohio, and served as State Solicitor for the state of Ohio. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lewis F. Powell, Jr. (Ret.), the Honorable Antonin Scalia and the Honorable Thomas J. Meskill.
He has argued a dozen cases before the Supreme Court, including several landmark federalism rulings involving the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (Boerne), the Americans with Disabilities Act (Garrett), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (Kimel). His work on judging and state constitutionalism has appeared in such law reviews as the Michigan Law Review and the Harvard Law Review.
This lecture is part of the College of William & Mary's observance of Constitution Day. It is sponsored by the Institute of Bill of Rights Law Student Division. A pizza lunch will be available.
