When Is Life Not Worth Living? An Exercise in Imagining Intolerable States
Imagine that you have been asked at this stage in your life to sit down and write an advanced directive. What qualities or conditions do you believe you need to have in order to experience a good life? What conditions would you consider intolerable? How certain are you? How do you think health care professionals would respond to these questions? A few years ago, a short study was done to measure health care professional's responses to these and other questions concerning people with disabilities and the findings just might surprise you. This presentation will examine this study and consider your own thoughts too.
