The year is 1975. The BRD is rocked by RAF actions, and the government vows to place police with machine guns on every corner to stop the wave of terrorism. Katharina Blum has a one-night stand with a man who is wanted by the police, and her life is destroyed by the yellow journalism tabloid culture that is in cahoots with the police, which feeds the stories in an effort to isolate and humiliate the young woman into submission.
