The next guest in our International Development Lecture Series is Nicolas van de Walle, Professor of Government at Cornell University. Van de Walle will discuss his latest book on Aid and Democracy in Africa. The talk will be at 5pm on Thursday, March 22 in Morton Hall.
Nicolas van de Walle (PhD. Princeton University, 1990) is a Professor in Government at Cornell University. His primary field is comparative politics. His teaching and research focuses on the political economy of development, with a special focus on Africa; on democratization, and on the politics of economic reform. His most recent book is African Economies and the Politics of Permanent Crisis, 1979-1999 (Cambridge University Press, 2001). He is finishing an edited volume that looks at Aid and Democracy in Africa.
