What do crab traps, shotgun wads, and erosion control have in common? They are all topics of research for Dr. Kirk Havens, Research Associate Professor and Director of VIMS' Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM). Dr. Havens and his team focus on developing innovative solutions to real world problems, such as by-catch reduction in derelict crab traps, plastic pollution, and wildlife entanglement in erosion control netting. Join us as Dr. Havens describes how biopolymers – plastic-like materials produced by plants – are being used to solve issues of ecological and economic importance.

Registration is required for access to this online webinar. After Hours lectures are designed for an adult audience, but all ages are welcome to watch. Attendees will be able to ask questions via the Zoom chat feature during a Q&A session after the presentation.
