Join Dr. Molly Mitchell, Research Assistant Professor at VIMS, and Joe Rieger, Deputy Director of Restoration at Elizabeth River Project, as they discuss the Elizabeth River Environmental Justice Tool. This tool, developed through collaboration between ERP and VIMS, allows planners to deliberately focus on equity for historically marginalized communities within the Elizabeth River watershed. Combining social and environmental data sets, the EREJT is an environmental justice resource that can be used across disciplines to address racial disparities while addressing critical environmental issues impacting the communities.
Registration is required.
After Hours lectures are designed for an adult audience.
We are excited to offer this lecture in-person in McHugh Auditorium on VIMS' Gloucester Point Campus! Face masks are currently optional for all individuals in indoor spaces on the VIMS campus. This lecture will also be available as a live-streamed webinar. Registration is required for both in-person and webinar attendees. Webinar links will be sent in all registration confirmation emails. At this time, we are expecting a hybrid event, but registrants will be notified in advance if the event moves to a virtual only format.
Registering for and attending events at VIMS/William & Mary conveys a shared expectation of abiding by university policy, which is subject to change as conditions warrant. As of March 29, 2022, masking is optional both indoors and outdoors, with masking especially encouraged in large gatherings. Masks are required for students visiting the Student Health Center, for staff in the clinic, and for anyone using public transportation. COVID-19 vaccination and boosters are strongly encouraged for all William & Mary students, employees and external visitors, in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance. We create these shared expectations of event participants in keeping with William & Mary’s core values of Belonging within this community and Respect for one another as individuals, and in recognition of the risks inherent to gathering amid pandemic. As we move forward, our planning must necessarily be flexible and will be based on current health data. For the latest information on VIMS and W&M’s pandemic response, please visit the Path Forward website.
This event will be photographed and/or videotaped. By attending this event, each participant consents to being photographed and/or videotaped and authorizes VIMS/William & Mary to use such photographs and videos for VIMS/W&M media purposes.
