In collaboration with the Virginia Law Foundation, IBRL will host two Members of the U.S. House of Representatives on November 28, 2023. Representatives Joyce Beatty and Mike Carey of Ohio will engage students in a conversation about bipartisanship and problem-solving beginning at 11:30 AM. Following the lecture, students will participate in simulations throughout the afternoon during which they will apply the principles they have learned from the representatives to respond to real-life legislative quandaries. Attendance at the lecture is not required to participate in the simulations and vice versa.
The first simulation will take place from 12:50 PM- 1:50 PM. The second will take place from 3:30 PM- 5:00 PM. Participants may choose one or both simulations. Both simulations will be held in Room 124. Afterwards, there will be a cocktail hour from 5:00 PM- 6:00 PM in Penny Commons and the Faculty Courtyard.
The event will be open to and free for law students throughout Virginia, as well as William & Mary undergraduates.
