Program Director Dana Lashley and Global Education Office staff will share information and answer questions about the '24 summer study abroad program in Cape Town, South Africa. 

The Cape Town summer program mixes classroom instruction and hands-on service learning. 

Students will take two 3-credit courses and one 1-credit course:

  • CHEM 361 Global Infectious Diseases (3 credits);
  • AFST 306/HIST 212 Topics in Africana Studies/Topics in History: From Rhodes to Mandela and from Apartheid to Aids (3 credits); and
  • AFST 306 Topics in Africana Studies: Survival isiXhosa (1 credit).

The Cape Town program can include excursions to locations such as Robben Island, the site of Nelson Mandela's imprisonment, Table Mountain, Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope, and museums and historic sites in and around Cape Town.
