Kyle Titlow is a geographer and spatial statistician at the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) at the US Department of Transportation (USDOT). He works in their Office of Spatial Analysis and Visualization and oversees several projects that use GPS data from different modes of transport—freight trucks, ships, and airplanes--to study the usage patterns of the nation’s transportation system. He also oversees a nascent program studying long-distance passenger travel in the United States, including intercity bus services, Amtrak, and the national airline network. He has been at the USDOT for six years. He will be talking about some of the projects they do at the department related to GIS, geography, and geospatial analyses and his experience!
