[PAST EVENT] Universal Universities? Teaching and Research in Global Perspective
February 16, 2015
4:30pm - 6:30pm
The College is in the process of adopting a new curriculum, thinking about how different disciplines speak to each other (or don't), and also attempting to internationalize its teaching and research. How do we approach teaching and research at W&M and/or in other U.S. universities and how is this different from teaching and research in the rest of the world? Does this vary by discipline? How does one internationalize teaching and research? Should we do so? Do shared standards and norms lead to universal knowledge? Faculty will discuss these and other questions within the context of their own disciplines and will also explore the costs and benefits of collaboration across disciplines and across the globe.
