Iranian Baha'is have systematically been persecuted, solely because of their beliefs, by the Iranian government through execution, imprisonment, and much more. The persecution of the denial of education, specifically access to public and private colleges and universities, has intensified in the country in recent years. Many Baha'is are well qualified to enroll and study in university, but they are barred from this right.

To Light A Candle illustrates this issue, also discussing the Iranian Baha'i community's response to this denial in the founding of the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education.

A panel discussion will follow the screening of the documentary with people who have been involved with those in Iran and the U.S. to bring about awareness of this problem. There will also be a chance to add your voice to the voices around the world who support the people of Iran and their right to education.
