Bennett will be speaking as the Fall 2014 Baxter-Ward Fellow and will reflect on his experiences as a video journalist since his graduation in 2009.
He has received the 2014 Oliver S. Gramling Award for Journalism. The award is presented annually by the Associated Press to recognize excellence:
"Bennett has become one of APs go-to video journalists, specializing in compelling visual storytelling. Showing vast maturity at just 26, he puts the viewer at the scene of his assignments, whether it's the smoking barricades in the Ukraine or the tragedy of the Gaza war. He regularly contributes breaking news to text wires and thinks and acts beyond the confines of the video format. Generous in sharing his expertise, his reports illustrate what it is that AP aspires to achieve in video storytelling."
The Baxter-Ward Fellowship recognizes alumni of the Government Department who have distinguished themselves in their field of endeavor. It was created by generous gifts from alumni and friends of the Government Department to recognize the contributions of Professors Alan J. Ward and Donald J. Baxter upon their retirements.
The presentation will be followed by a reception in Morton 37.
