?WOMEN MAKE HISTORY? WIKISTORM
You can help us add 100 early American women to Wikipedia by 2019.
You can also help us augment current entries for early American women.
The Omohundro Institute will sponsor a #VastEarlyAmerica Wikistorm, ?Women Make History,? on Saturday, November 3, 10:00-2:00, in the Ford Classroom, on the ground floor of Swem Library, campus of William & Mary. Lunch will be served for all participants from noon to 2:00. All are invited to join the Wikistorm for as much time as they are able and to join the lunch in the Botetourt Gallery.
The November 3 editing session will inaugurate an OI-led effort to add 100 women from early American history to Wikipedia by the end of 2018.
Veronica Paredes, an active member of FemTechNet, will facilitate the Wikistorm and teach participants how to update the online encyclopedia. No experience with Wikipedia is needed to join the editing session.
?Women Make History? is part of a celebration of 100 Years of Women at W&M and honors the memory of Mary Maples Dunn (1931-2017), who served as President of Smith College and Director of the Schlesinger Library at Harvard and was also a W&M alumna, early American historian, and OI Council and Board member (1974?1980). The 2018 Vast Early America lecture by early American and feminist historian Ann Little, who as an undergraduate was a student of Dunn?s at Bryn Mawr, will close out the day?s events.
