Dr. Simkins? is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia. Her research broadly focuses on past changes in coastal, marine, and glacial environments and the processes that control those changes, primarily using sedimentological and geomorphological archives.
Her recent publications include, Holocene reconfiguration and readvance of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet (2018), Late Holocene relative sea levels near Palmer Station, northern Antarctic Peninsula, strongly controlled by late Holocene ice-mass changes (2018), Diagnosing ice sheet grounding line stability from landform morphology (2018), and Glacial retreat patterns and processes determined from integrated sedimentology and geomorphology records (2018).
This year marks the 100th anniversary of women attending William & Mary, and a number of events are planned to celebrate this milestone. The geology department is proud of the contributions made by women geoscientists and invite you to celebrate with us as Geology Celebrates 100 Years of Women at William & Mary.
