Business Survival in a Moody World
A Raymond A. Mason School of Business Alumni Webinar
Presented by Peter Atwater, President, Financial Insyghts
April 1, 2015 at Noon, EST

Chipotle is thriving while McDonald?s is struggling to find its way. Google is planning to build an ?insane? new corporate headquarters while Main Street is hoarding what it is saving from lower gas prices. Wall Street is back and yet income inequality is on the front page. These contradictions may seem random; they aren?t. All clearly reflect and tie to current social mood.
To research pioneer Peter Atwater, social mood is the ?invisible hand? that determines our preferences, decisions and actions. It is the why of what we do.
In this webinar, Atwater will connect business, political, social and even cultural event headlines in a way that will challenge how you look at the world. You will not only understand what is really behind the behaviors above, recent events in Greece, the anti-vaccination movement, the minimum wage boost at Wal-Mart and the success of American Sniper, but how to apply these insights to improve your own marketing, corporate strategy and investment, risk management, and customer service. After listening to Peter Atwater, you won?t see the news the same way.
Called ?one of the smartest guys you never heard of on anything financial? by Herb Greenberg of CNBC, Peter Atwater writes and speaks extensively about how changes in confidence affect decision making. Peter?s research on confidence has been mentioned in The Financial Times, Reuters and Time Magazine. Atwater has also been a contributor to the World Policy Institute and a commentator on television, appearing on CNBC and Fox Business News.
The president of Financial Insyghts, Peter is the author of Moods and Markets (FTPress), an adjunct professor at the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at The University of Delaware and a member of the New America Foundation World Economic Roundtable. He spoke at TEDx Wilmington in August 2013 and TEDx College of William and Mary in April 2014. Mr. Atwater earned his Bachelor of Arts from William & Mary in 1983.
