[PAST EVENT] W&M Business Plan Competition

Purpose: The W&M Business Plan Competition's main purpose is to create a real-world simulation of the process of obtaining funds from angel investors and venture capitalists for would-be entrepreneurs.
Prizes:
Winner $2,000
2nd Place $750
3rd Place $250
Competitor Qualifications: The competition is open to all W&M students, with teams of up to 5 individuals.

Competition Rounds: The participant teams will compete in three stages, starting by submitting an executive summary, moving on to making a 60-sec elevator pitch, and finally presenting their business plans. At each stage, some teams will get eliminated and a few selected teams will advance to the next round.
The final round presentations are open to audience who want to listen to the top five ideas pitched during the competition. Each presentation will last 20 minutes followed by 20 minutes of Q&A from the panel of judges. This will take place on April 24, 2012 from1:00- 5:00 pm at Room 1008, Miller Hall. The presentations will be followed by an Awards Ceremony and Networking Reception from 5:30- 7:00 pm at Brinkley Commons, Miller Hall. Please send RSVPs to attend to Vibha.Chokhani@mason.wm.edu
Judges: The competition is judged by entrepreneurs and successful business executives. The idea, story and the credibility of the written business plan and the oral presentation will influence the judges' final decision. In addition, participants will be expected to have a strong knowledge of the respective market in which their proposed business will operate.
