Nonprofit boards exist to provide ethical, transparent, and accountable governance. Board member responsibility is to ensure the organization they represent is highly effective, mission focused, financial sustainability, legally compliant and has adequate resources to advance its work. Perhaps most important, boards hire and set the compensation of directors to run the day-to-day management of the organization.
To do all that, the right people must be impaneled.
