We are living in a world where we need to be adaptable and resilient to respond to the ever-changing environment and job markets in which we find ourselves. It's essential for those driven by social justice, advocacy, and purpose to know how embracing nonlinear career paths can lead to fulfilling long-term development career. Equally, more and more college graduates are seeking careers that allow them flexibility, freedom, and the ability to pursue different passions over time. In this panel, hear the stories and advice from William & Mary alums who have pursued a nontraditional career path abroad.

Ho-Seung Lee is an international Programme Management professional with over 20 years of experience in the UN system and Government Agencies.

Ho-Seung most recently served as a Programme Management Officer within the Division for Asia and the Pacific of the International Atomic Energy Agency, focused on the design, implementation, and evaluation of technical cooperation programs. Prior to joining the IAEA, Ho-Seung had worked at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in areas such as human resource policy development, post-crisis rehabilitation in industrial development, and private sector development.

Before his UN career, Ho-Seung had worked at the KOSDAQ Stock Market as an Analyst, working on disclosures and international cooperation. He did his military service in the Republic of Korea at the Yongsan-Gu Office as a Foreigners Service Clerk. He also worked at the National Information Agency as Chief Editor of the content for www.korea.net. His first job was at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a Treaties Editor.

Ho-Seung is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the Wien Universität focusing on liberal Institutionalism and the effects of the Delivering as One UN on smaller international organizations. He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from William & Mary. Ho-Seung has lived and worked abroad in Korea for more than 35 years spanning the countries of Australia, Thailand, Belgium, the USA, and Austria.

Daisy Garner '21 is currently serving her second year as a United States Teaching Assistant (USTA) for the Lower Austrian Federal Ministry of Education in conjunction with Fulbright Austria. Through her job, she teaches about US culture and the English language to Austrian youth. Daisy is also a graduate student at the University of Vienna.

Ducie Le serves as Assistant Director at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC. At the Federal Reserve, she oversees attorneys, economists, and analysts enforcing consumer financial protection laws. Before returning to the Federal Reserve in 2013, Ducie served as Associate General Counsel for Capital One in its headquarters in McLean, Virginia.

Ducie began her legal career as an attorney under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Honors Program clerking for the immigration courts in Baltimore and Philadelphia. She spent her law school summers interning in Bangkok at the law office of Baker & McKenzie and in Hong Kong with the NGO Boat People S.O.S./Legal Assistance for Vietnamese Asylum Seekers. As an undergraduate, she spent a summer interning in Paris, France.

Ducie received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and her BBA from William & Mary.
