Judge Judith M. Barzilay was nominated to the US Court of International Trade January 27, 1998 by President Clinton and sworn-in June 3, 1998. She has served on the court since and is extremely knowledgeable in all International Trade Topics. Before her appointment, she was trial attorney for U.S. Department of Justice, International Trade Field Office from 1983 to 1986, and a litigation associate in Siegel, Mandell and Davidson, New York, NY, from 1986 to 1988. From 1988 until her appointment she served as the customs and international trade counsel, vice-president for import and export operations, and then vice-president for government affairs for Sony Electronics.

Judge Barzilay served on the executive board of the American Association of Exporters and Importers from 1993 - 1998 and was appointed by Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin to the Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of the United States Customs Service from 1995 to 1998.

She has a B.A. from Wichita State University, an M.L.S. from Rutgers University School of Library and Information Science, and a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law.
