Adriano Marinazzo is an architect, artist and architectural historian.
He has been a researcher at the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence where he has taught methods on virtual reconstruction of historic architecture.
Marinazzo has published on the architecture of the Italian Renaissance, especially on the Palazzo Pitti, with important discoveries on the Sala delle Nicchie and on the "casa vecchia" of the Pitti family. He has participated in symposiums held at the Casa Buonarroti, at the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, at Palazzo Pitti in Florence and at Palazzo dei Conservatori in Rome, and contributed to various books, lectures and exhibitions on Michelangelo as architect and the painted architecture of the Sistine Ceiling.
Marinazzo is currently Scholar in Residence at the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary. He previously worked at the Muscarelle in 2008 during the exhibition from the Uffizi Gallery, "Painting the Italian Landscape" and in 2010 when he presented a study on the Pietrasanta Bell Tower during the exhibition "Michelangelo: Anatomy as Architecture." The digital drawings and a video animation on this work are conserved at the Muscarelle. Marinazzo contributed to the exhibition now at the Muscarelle, "Michelangelo Sacred and Profane: Masterpiece Drawings from the Casa Buonarroti," by writing the architectural entries of the catalog.
He is currently researching at Muscarelle on the Sistine Ceiling and on a project on the architectural history of the William & Mary campus.
During this lecture, pictures of Marinazzo's visual art works will be shown.
