[PAST EVENT] Internationalization: An Authentic Model for Global Mobility

In response to economic development and education processes of globalization, internationalization activities in educational institutions are changing.
The range of activities and initiatives has expanded, and internationalization has shifted from the marginal activity of inbound student recruitment to a fundamental issue with strategic importance. These shifts can be observed in global cooperation and collaboration between educational institutions worldwide.
One of the manifestations of this shift is the increase and transformation of inter-organizational arrangements between international partners.
This presentation reports on the development and implementation of a global education consortium. The consortium consists of 8 founding 2-3 year colleges/institutions from America, Australia, and New Zealand. The primary focus is a critical analysis of the reasons WHY a new approach is needed for international education and connecting students with enterprises and industry.
The presentation outlines the critical elements of success THE HOW in contemporary best practice models for global mobility. The presentation also identifies the complex issues THE WHAT for educational institutions responding to the multiple challenges of operating in a competitive and dynamic international student environment.

Mark Harris is the Director and owner of Global Education & HR Consultancy Services. He is also the founder, President and CEO of Global Education Skills Alliance (GESA).
Mark has over 17 years in the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and 7 years in higher education. He has managed innovative capacity and capability-building projects in education organizations.
In 2010 Mark was awarded the prestigious Australian-American Fulbright Professional Scholarship. He holds a Master of Human Resource Management with Honours from Griffith University. Mark has also investigated and completed research papers on knowledge sharing, professional learning and development, capability building, the aging workforce, benchmarking workforce development, and professional obsolescence.
Mark is a leader, researcher and innovator and regularly presents at research forums, workshops, national and international conferences.
