Laith Ulaby received his PhD in ethnomusicology from UCLA in 2008. He has conducted over three years of field research in the Arab world focusing on issues of Arab identity and transnationalism. In addition to teaching at Georgetown University, UCLA and the University of Redlands, Ulaby has worked as a musician contributing to the soundtracks for award-winning documentary films and network TV shows. In 2011, he was the Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow at Convergence working on the USMuslim Engagement Initiative.
