Dr. Zaki holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University in medieval Islamic studies. A reviewer and translator of modern Arabic fiction, she is a contributing editor to Banipal: Journal of Modern Arabic Fiction. Her research interests, apart from Arabic fiction, include late medieval Muslim hagiography, Western travel narratives to Mecca and contemporary Arab theatre.
