[PAST EVENT] The Heart of Justice: Combatting Child-Trafficking

The HUG Project Thailand is working to prevent, protect, and restore child victims of sexual abuse, and human trafficking. HUG founder and director, Boom Mosby, is an internationally-recognized advocate for child survivors of sexual exploitation. The first Thai female to receive the honor of US State Department Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Hero (in 2017), Ms. Mosby is also accepting a Vital Voices Global Leadership Award for Human Rights, just prior to her visit to William & Mary. As an official advisor and active member of TICAC (Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children), Ms. Mosby specializes in combating internet-facilitated sexual crimes against children. Examples include child sexual abuse, child pornography, and child prostitution--aided by online technology. Experts point to a sharp increase in these types of offenses being carried out against children worldwide. During her guest lecture at W&M, Ms. Mosby will explain the latest challenging developments in both supply and demand, as well as innovative solutions that are bringing together government and non-government organizations to battle this issue.
The annual McSwain-Walker lecture brings renowned scholars, artists, analysts and other notable public figures to William & Mary to speak on topics related to how other countries and cultures interact with the United States, and how the United States interacts with them.
