[PAST EVENT] Inside Out: Neural Pathways + Social Expressions of "Otherness"
March 14, 2019
3pm
Location
1127Access & Features
- Open to the public
Our perception of "otherness" and rapid assignment to in-group or out-group status appear to be deeply rooted in the human species, often with tragic consequences. What kinds of neural pathways and processes are in play? At our current state of social evolution, how are we modifying or accommodating our neural predisposition?
W&M Professors Dickter and Ferrao draw on their research and lived experiences in this conversation about where we come from, where we are now, and where we might want to go from here.
Sponsored by the Boswell Initiative, Center for the Liberal Arts, and Arts & Sciences Annual Fund.
Reception to follow.
